Machine Inspection:
Check the overall appearance of the CNC tube bending machine to ensure there is no visible damage, loose parts, or signs of abnormal wear on the machine body, guide rails, molds, and other components.
Inspect the electrical system, including checking the power cord for any frayed wires or loose connections. Make sure all electrical switches and buttons are in good working condition and that the control panel lights up properly when powered on.
Examine the hydraulic system (if applicable) by checking the hydraulic oil level in the reservoir. It should be within the recommended range. Also, look for any signs of oil leakage around the hydraulic cylinders, valves, and pipes.
Tool and Die Preparation:
Select the appropriate bending die according to the diameter and wall thickness of the copper tube to be bent. The die should match the tube dimensions precisely to ensure accurate bending.
Install the selected die onto the machine following the manufacturer's instructions. Ensure it is firmly attached and properly aligned with the machine's bending mechanism.
Prepare any necessary auxiliary tools such as tube cutters, deburring tools, and clamping fixtures. These tools will be used for preparing the copper tube before and after bending.
Tube Cutting:
Use a tube cutter to cut the copper tube to the required length. Make sure the cut is clean and perpendicular to the axis of the tube. Avoid any burrs or rough edges on the cut end as they can affect the bending quality and may cause damage to the bending die.
After cutting, measure the length of the tube again to confirm it meets the specified requirements. Any deviation in length should be within an acceptable tolerance range.
Tube Cleaning:
Clean the surface of the copper tube to remove any dirt, grease, oxides, or other contaminants. You can use a clean cloth soaked in a suitable cleaning agent (such as alcohol or a specialized copper cleaner) to wipe the tube thoroughly.
Ensure the tube is completely dry before proceeding with the bending operation. Any moisture left on the tube can cause problems during bending, such as steam formation or corrosion.
Tube Placement:
Carefully place the prepared copper tube onto the machine's worktable or clamping area. Align the tube with the centerline of the bending die as accurately as possible. This alignment is crucial for achieving accurate bending angles.
Make sure the tube is resting flat and stable on the worktable. If the tube is not properly supported, it may shift during the bending process, resulting in inaccurate bends.
Tube Clamping:
Use the appropriate clamping fixtures provided with the machine to secure the copper tube in place. Adjust the clamping force according to the diameter and material of the tube. The clamping force should be sufficient to hold the tube firmly during bending but not so strong that it causes deformation or damage to the tube.
Check that the tube is clamped evenly around its circumference. Uneven clamping can lead to uneven bending and affect the final shape and accuracy of the bent tube.
Entering Tube Specifications:
On the CNC control panel, enter the relevant specifications of the copper tube, including the diameter, wall thickness, material type (if applicable), and total length of the tube. These parameters are essential for the machine to calculate the correct bending forces and movements.
Double-check the entered values to ensure their accuracy. Any incorrect input of tube specifications can lead to inaccurate bending results.
Setting Bending Angles and Radii:
Input the desired bending angles and radii for each bend in the tube. You can usually enter these values either in degrees or in a specific unit of measurement depending on the machine's programming options.
Consider the specific requirements of the final product or the application when setting these parameters. For example, if the bent tube is for a refrigeration system, the bending angles and radii may need to be set according to the layout and design of the system.
Adjusting Bending Speed and Pressure:
Set the appropriate bending speed based on the material and diameter of the copper tube. For harder materials or larger diameter tubes, a slower bending speed may be required to ensure smooth and accurate bending.
Determine the necessary bending pressure according to the tube's characteristics and the complexity of the bending operation. The pressure should be sufficient to achieve the desired bends without causing excessive deformation or cracking of the tube.
Starting the Machine:
Once all the bending parameters have been programmed and the copper tube has been properly loaded and clamped, press the start button on the CNC control panel to initiate the bending operation.
The machine will begin to move the bending die according to the programmed instructions, gradually bending the copper tube to the specified angles and radii.
Monitoring the Bending Process:
Keep a close eye on the bending process as it progresses. Watch for any signs of abnormal vibrations, noises, or deviations from the expected bending path. If any issues are detected, immediately stop the machine to avoid further damage or inaccurate bends.
Some CNC tube bending machines are equipped with sensors that can monitor the actual bending angles, displacements, and other parameters in real time. Check the readings on the control panel to ensure the bending is proceeding as planned.
Stopping the Machine:
When the bending operation is complete and the copper tube has been bent to the desired shape, press the stop button on the CNC control panel to halt the machine's operation.
Wait for the machine to come to a complete stop before proceeding with the next step.
Tube Unloading:
Release the clamping fixtures to free the bent copper tube. Be careful when removing the tube to avoid any damage to the bent shape or the machine.
Inspect the bent tube carefully to check for any visible defects such as cracks, wrinkles, or excessive deformation. If any defects are found, determine whether the tube can be repaired or if it needs to be re-bent.
Machine Cleaning:
After completing the bending operation, clean the CNC tube bending machine thoroughly. Wipe down the machine body, guide rails, molds, and other components with a clean cloth to remove any copper shavings, dirt, or other debris.
If there was any hydraulic oil leakage during the operation, clean it up immediately using an appropriate absorbent material. Also, check the hydraulic system again for any signs of new leaks.
Tool and Die Maintenance:
Remove the bending die from the machine and clean it thoroughly. Use a soft brush and a suitable cleaning agent to remove any copper residue or debris stuck to the die.
Inspect the die for any signs of wear or damage. If the die has been used for a long time or shows signs of significant wear, it may need to be replaced or repaired to ensure accurate bending in future operations.
Clean and store the other auxiliary tools used during the operation, such as tube cutters and clamping fixtures, in a proper place for future use.
